Do you offer demo versions of your programs?
Currently we do not offer demo versions. I hope to release a stripped down version 2.0 for free use sometime this summer. If you cannot wait for that then I'm sorry we cannot offer a demo or test version at this time.

If I order an installation, how soon can it be completed?
Installations can usually be completed within one day, including weekends. If there are difficulties due to unusual server settings or we need to request something from your server's tech support, it may take longer.

Does your software work on Windows?
Yes it does. Installing on Windows servers is usually more complex than installing on Unix/Linux type servers but the software will work fine on both. Please read the User Guide for more information.

Do you offer volume discounts for multiple licenses?
Yes we do. If you order 3 or more licenses at the same time we offer a 10% discount and for 5 or more licenses we offer a 20% discount. Please enquire by email for these offers to sales@3deearts.com

Installation Issues
What do I do if I get the message, Please set the variable $HOME manually?
This means the function that automatically determines your system's local path cannot function on your server and the variable that tells the program the path must be typed in manually. Open the file calendar.cgi and go to line 46. The line reads $HOME = get_path(); now edit this to show your system path, for example $HOME = '/home/mysite/html/cgi-bin/calendar/' edit the code, save the file and reload it. Now the path should work if you input it correctly.

Why do I compilation errors when I run the script?
You should never get a message saying there are compilation errors. We check and double check our code to make sure that doesn't happen. If you do get this message make sure it is not from some changes you made first before sending in a support request.

I ran the install script and it completed but now I can't log in. Why?
Remember the initial user name and password for a new installation are 'admin' and 'admin'. Also make sure your browser is setup to receive http cookies.

I completed the installation but where are the images?
During the installation you were given the option to input a calendar HTML directory. Go back and make sure it was correct, make sure you uploaded the files to the server, and also make sure the sub directories have the correct names. They should be 'help' and 'images'. They will not work if you re-name them.

How do I get permissions set on Windows servers?
There is a section of the Installation Guide devoted to this topic, but basically you must ask your server's tech support people to do it for you. There is no way I know of to remotely set permissions under Windows. Send them a short email describing the settings you need and where the directories are.

Questions About Features
Can I import calendar events from Outlook or iCal to the 3DeeArts Calendar?
You can easily export your calendar events to another program from the calendar administration panel, but you may only import previously saved 3DeeArts Calendar backup files. In the future you will be able to import events from other programs but it was a feature we had to leave due to time constraints for version 3.0

Can I run multiple calendars from a single installation?
No, you can't. One calendar installation will only run a single calendar database. What you can do is mimic the functionality of multiple calendars using categories and restrictions. Setup a category and allow only certain users to be able to view it and then it in a sense becomes a separate calendar.

Can I import and export contacts from the address book?
Yes you can. We have added a fully featured import and export routine to the address book. Follow the instructions in the User Guide and help files to learn how to import and export contacts.

My email and reminders don't work?
Check to make sure that the email settings are correct and functional outside the calendar program, then make sure that the reminder.cgi program is installed correctly. For detailed information on how to install it check the Installation Guide in the documentation section.
